Firefox Adblock Plus Addon

Many websites contain ads and banners on them which are often distracting, some even playing music or sounds which can be very annoying. (You may have come across ads with monkey or girl dancing!!) This ads can cause website taking longer time to load. You can block ads and banners using Firefox Adblock Plus addon. You can choose an automatic filter subscription which will block most of the advertisements automatically. You can also exclude websites if you wish to.

To install the firefox Adblock Plus addon, Click Here.
Install the addon and restart the firefox.
Upon restart, you will be prompted to subscribe to one of the recommended filter subscription. These filter subscriptions can block 99% of all the ads and banners.
You can select any of these subscription, I always use ‘EasyList (USA)’. Click the radio button and click on subscribe. And you are good to go.
Adblock Plus will block / remove most of the ads on the website.
If you want to exclude any website from blocking, right click on Adblock icon on top right corner and select one of two options.
- Disable on the domain (for example, http://facebook.com/)
- Or you can just select the particular webpage you want to exclude.
You can also configure the addon using preferences. (Keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + E) If you select one of the recommended subscription, you won’t need to configure anything for the most part.
If you want to disable / enable the adblock plus addon, you can do so from right click menu on adblock icon.

Firefox Restart Addon

Every time, you add addon or plugin to Firefox browser, or you enable or disable any addon, or make a major changes in its configurations, Firefox will prompt you to restart. There are times, when you have many windows or tabs opened. And you want to keep it exactly same after the firefox restart.

Now using Firefox Quick Restart addon, you can easily restart the firefox any time, without loosing any of your opened tabs or windows.

Firefox IE Tab Addon

Nowadays, Firefox Internet Browser can open and view any websites. But every once in a while, you will come across some websites which does not look good in Firefox or does not open properly. There are some activeX controls which only works in Internet explorer. With Firefox IE Tab addon, you don’t need to quit firefox and open Internet explorer to open such websites.

IE tab firefox addon can open the website in Internet explorer from the same tab, or it can also open the new internet explorer window. So, you don’t have to copy and paste URL in IE. So, here are the steps to install, setup and use IE Tab.

Restart the firefox.
Now, you can open any webpage in IE, by right clicking the tabs and select ‘Switch rendering engine’ (to open the webpage in same tab) or ‘Open in Ext App’ (to open new Internet explorer window).
You can also configure IE tab addon, from tools, addons, IE tabs Options.
You can enable site filters for particular site, so every time, you open that site, it automatically opens in IE tab. (For example, http://windowsupdate.com/)
You can also change the context menu for IE tabs from ‘Context menu’ options.

Download Statusbar Firefox Add-on

If you have downloaded anything in firefox, you may know the additional firefox download window. It can be quite annoying to your internet browsing. Download Statusbar addon can get rid of irritating firefox download window. It changes the usual firefox download window into tiny statusbar on the bottom-left . So no more annoying download window will come on your way. You can view and manage all you downloads from the same firefox window. You can also clear the completed downloads or open the containing folder. Here are the steps to install, setup and use addon.

Search for ‘download statusbar’ add on from Get Bookmark Add-ons, or click here, Download Statusbar.
Install the addon.
Restart the Firefox.
Now, addon window will be prompted. You can close it, or click ‘open extension options’ to configure the firefox addon.

Xmarks (Foxmarks) Firefox Addon for Bookmark Sync

This tutorial will show you how to setup Xmarks bookmark sync for Firefox. Xmarks (formerly called ‘Foxmarks’) is one of the most useful Firefox addon or extension. It syncs bookmarks (or favorites) between different computers.

It is extremely useful if you use two or more computers at home or office. It automatically syncs the bookmarks in all the computers, so that you will not have to wonder what website did you bookmark at home or office.

With Firefox 3, you can also sync passwords between different computers. This can be also very useful if you save passwords for various websites on different computers. (If you are using a shared computer, it is not advisable to sync passwords)

To install the Xmarks, simply go to Tools, and click on Add-ons.
Search for ‘Xmarks’ in ‘Get Add-ons’ tab. (You can also search the add on from Get Bookmark Add-ons)
Install the addon.
Restart the Firefox.
You will be prompted the Xmarks Bookmark Sync Wizard.
Follow the instructions.
If you don’t have account with Foxmarks, you will need to set up. This is only one time setup, once you have account, you can sync any number of computers.
You will also be prompted for ‘Password Sync’, you need to setup a PIN for password sync.
For the first computer, You will select ‘Merge data on the server with data on this computer’.
After that, For all computers, you can select ‘Keep Data on Server, discard Data on this computer’.

Default Firefox Zoom Add-On

Default FullZoom Level Add-on for Firefox is one of very useful, yet not much known add-on. Nowadays, more and more users are switching to larger LCD monitors ranging from 17″ to 24″. You may want to zoom the webpages, if you are using a bigger screen. Firefox has in-built function (CTRL + +) to zoom the entire webpage. It also remembers your settings. So next time, when you visit the website, you will get the same zoom setting.

However, if you want to set the default zoom level for all the website, ‘Default Fullzoom Level’ firefox addon comes very handy. It allows you to choose the default zoom setting for all the websites. So here are the few steps to setup the Default firefox zoom level.

To install the ‘Default FullZoom Level’, simply go to Tools, and click on Add-ons.
Search for ‘default zoom’ in ‘Get Add-ons’ tab. (You can also search the add on from Get Bookmark Add-ons)
Select the add-on and click ‘add to firefox’ to install the add on.
Restart the firefox.
Go to Tools, Add-ons. And Click on ‘Default Full Zoom Level’.
Click on ‘Options’.
Select the required zoom level. (Default is 100%). You can try different values to get the optimum zoom value for your computer monitor screen size.
There are other settings, which you can configure as well.
You need to restart the firefox, to see the changes.
